Thank you for taking the time to nominate your scholar(s) for the 2024-2025 SOAR Program. We appreciate your input as we seek to identify highly motivated student leaders with underrepresented backgrounds to engage in a two-day Rivers experience on campus and to learn about what an independent school learning community can offer them.
During their time here, participants will engage in workshops and activities to push their leadership potential and experience a school day. Scholars will join classes, attend sporting events, see performances, meet with our community members, and much more. The goals of the SOAR program are to give student leaders from historically underrepresented background the opportunity to:
Explore how attending an independent school, like Rivers, could help students unlock their potential and pursue their dreams
Connect with like-minded peers from across the Greater Boston Area who are academically driven
Engage in enriching and leadership activities
Nominees for SOAR should match the following criteria:
Be part of a historically underrepresented group (i.e. Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, low-income, first generation, and person of color)
Plans to attend 7th or 9th grade in Fall 2025
Stands out for their leadership in academics, community life, athletics, the arts, and/or STEAM
Demonstrates strong and consistent academic performance (ideally B+ average or above)
Demonstrates curiosity, inclusivity, growth-mindedness, aspiration, and a genuine love of learning
Shows strong character and leadership in their school community
Requirements: Transcript and any testing (if available)
Please nominate scholars by completing this form by September 10, 2024 (you may nominate more than one student). We will inform finalists and their nominators of our decision in late September.
