Alumni Connect During the 22nd Annual Rivers Community Golf Tournament
The 22nd annual Rivers School Community Golf Tournament, held May 6, 2024, brought together more than 100 golfers at the Charter Oak Country Club in Hudson, MA, on a perfect spring day. Rivers alumni, parents/caregivers, grandfriends, and members of the professional community reconnected with one another on the links and celebrated a first-ever hole-in-one for this event. Congratulations to James Kieyah P’30 for this amazing accomplishment!
Director of Alumni Engagement Janet McKeeney opened the evening reception and introduced Head of School Ryan S. Dahlem, who thanked the Daley family—Stacey and Pat Daley ’84, P’13, ’15, ’18, and Tina and Fred Daley P’12, ’14, ’16—for generously donating the use of Charter Oak for the annual event, which raises funds for financial aid. Dahlem noted the positive impact of the financial aid program in “attracting the very best students to Rivers” and how it “affects the future trajectory of the school.” Several participants won prizes at the post-play raffle that included Red Sox tickets, gift baskets, a round of golf, and a Bruins Patrice Bergeron-autographed photo, all donated by members of the Rivers community.
The overall competition for the day was tight, as usual. The Class of 1997 foursome of Grant Hecht, Steve Paster, Mike Rich, and Tim O’Keefe secured a close win, shooting 17 under for the round. Second place at 16 under went to English Department Chair Mac Caplan, Ben Snyder ’21, Dan Snyder P’21, and science faculty member Jeff Meropol P’98, P’03. Class of 2015 alums and 2023 champions Trevor Davock, Stephen Richlen, Ben Rogers, and Nick Sia rounded out the top three with a coincidental “15” under. Congratulations to Rich Fisher, who won the driving range contest with lucky ball #7, Matt Lombardozzi ’15 and Jeff Meropol for winning the closest to the pin contests, and Grant Hecht ’97, who had the longest drive at hole 13.
Rivers would like to thank the golf committee for their tireless efforts to make this event a success: Carl Robinson ’92, P’28, Jeff Lowenstein ’77, P’10, ’16; David Paquette P’24, ’24; and Joel Reidy P’28, ’28. Afterward, in a sentiment surely shared by many attendees, Lombardozzi said, “That was an incredible event. I’m already looking forward to next year!” Be sure to watch your email for a save-the-date for our 23rd annual golf tournament in early May 2025.
