Nick Revers '15 Receives Costello Courageous Player Award
Nick Revers ’15 missed his entire junior season of football at Rivers after sustaining a serious knee injury before the year began. Through many months of hard work and rehab, Nick was able to return for his senior season and because of that, he has been recognized as one of eight statewide recipients of the Coach Paul F. Costello Courageous Player Award.
The Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association gives this award to players who have “played physically challenged, endured a hardship, or served as an inspiration to their team. The player nominated must have demonstrated teamwork, spirit, and sportsmanship while playing above and beyond.”
Football coach Dan Keohane, who felt that Nick embodied each of the award’s criteria, nominated him at the conclusion of the season feeling he deserved recognition for the hard work he put in to rejoin the team as a senior.
“I was very thankful that Coach Keohane nominated me for the award,” Nick said. “It made me think of all the people who helped make last season such a success. Not just my teammates and coaches, but also the doctor who did the surgery and all of the PT people who helped me get back and have it all culminate in such a great season.
Nick will be honored at the MHSFCA Annual Awards Banquet on April 25 at Lantana in Randolph alongside the other seven recipients of the award.
