Rivers student artists were recently recognized once again for their outstanding work, earning a total of 24 prizes at the Small Independent School Arts League (SISAL) Competition this past weekend.

This year’s competition was hosted by Dedham Country Day School and featured entries from 19 participating independent schools. After a weeklong exhibition of student work, Rivers was awarded eight first prizes, seven second prizes, three third prizes, and six honorable mentions at the closing reception and awards ceremony on Sunday. Awards were earned in all media, including work by both upper school and middle school students.

Visual Arts Department Chair David Saul said middle and upper school students at Rivers were well represented at the event, which seeks to honor a variety of inspired artwork.

“The SISAL Juried Art Show is a wonderful opportunity for participating schools to celebrate student creativity and self-expression in a myriad of artistic endeavors,” said Saul. “The spirit of SISAL is inclusive and strives to highlight the very best work while also selecting a diverse range of artwork for exhibition.”
