Rivers AP Scholars Announced

Two current Rivers seniors and twenty-four members of the Class of 2009 received honors from the College Board in recognition of their outstanding academic performance on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) exams in May 2009.

Two current Rivers seniors and twenty-four members of the Class of 2009 received honors from the College Board in recognition of their outstanding academic performance on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) exams in May 2009.


Senior Charles Lizza was named an AP Scholar with Honors for earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Megan Orlander, also a senior, qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher.


Nine graduates of 2009 were honored with an AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These alumni are: Ian Brownstein, attending Brown University; Katherine Burns, attending Dartmouth College; Leigh Carroll, attending Carleton College; Emily Creedon, attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Anna Cummings, attending the University of Toronto; Yekaterina Gourinovitch, attending Georgetown University; Jeffrey Rautiola, attending Trinity College; Matt Robinson, attending Dartmouth College; and Rebecca Yau, attending Tufts University.


Seven graduates of 2009 joined Lizza in receiving an AP Scholar with Honor Award. These alumni are: Jillian Dempsey, attending Harvard University; Jennifer Pollan, attending Wesleyan University; Adam Roth, attending Hamilton College; Bryan Schoen, attending Georgetown University; Matthew Segal , attending Oberlin College; Kate Voorhes, attending Tufts University; and Liza Warshaver, attending Vanderbilt University.


In addition to Orlander, eight members of the class of 2009 were honored with the AP Scholar Award. These alumni are: Molly Barstow, attending Northwestern University; Cara Bigony, attending Hamilton College; Laura Blackett, attending Colorado College; Louise Blake, attending the University of Puget Sound; Megan Delaney, attending Trinity College; Anthony Duplisea, attending Villanova University; Madeline Levitt, attending Bates College; and Katherine Szostkowski, attending Georgetown University.
