The Rivers Athletics Department celebrated its fall varsity awards on Thursday morning, December 11.
The gathering in Kraft Dining Hall marked an exceptional fall season. Rivers was one of four schools in New England to qualify for the postseason in girls’ and boys’ soccer, field hockey, and volleyball. Field hockey advanced to the semifinals, where they fell to ISL champion Middlesex. Volleyball tied the program record for best record (16-3) and advanced to their second straight NEPSAC title game, where they ultimately fell to Greenwich Country Day. Girls’ and boys’ cross country finished second and sixth, respectively, in the New England prep school Division III championship meet. After three straight bowl game appearances and back-to-back NEPSAC championships, varsity football had a rebuilding year, with only three seniors on the roster, and battled to a 2-6 record.
During Thursday’s awards, not only were the individual athletes recognized for their contributions, but the nine seniors who participated in National Signing Day were also honored in front of the larger school community.
Here’s a list of individual athletics awards for the fall season. Congratulations to all!
