    Lucas Malo has a love for communities and is passionate about addressing inequities and helping others contribute to good in ways that are important to them. He has spent the bulk of his professional career supporting community engagement at Brandeis University, fostering reciprocal partnerships between the community and students, securing faculty resources, and ultimately building an award-winning program. He volunteers with the Trevor Project and serves on local school councils, nonprofit boards, and district-wide DEI committees. Lucas wholeheartedly believes that when we elevate voices from our community, we reach our greatest potential. He is inspired by activating youth and ensuring they are reflecting on and embodying the values of community engagement. He holds a B.A. in psychology from Saint Michael's College and an M.S.W. from the University of Maine. Lucas, along with his husband and two children, lives in Framingham.

    Dennis Marasca joined Rivers as controller in 2013. His primary responsibilities include financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and assisting the director of finance and operations with all aspects of school finances. Prior to joining Rivers, Dennis worked as a CPA in a public accounting firm for 11 years. He holds a BS in accountancy from Bentley University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

    Jill McCulley came to Rivers in 2004 as a Spanish teacher in the Upper School. Jill has advised ninth and tenth grade students and has coached the varsity cross-country team. Jill was the recipient of the Mida van Zuylen Dunn Award for Teaching in 2008. Prior to her time at Rivers, Jill taught at the Kent School and with Readak Educational Services. Jill received a BA in Spanish and English from the University of New Hampshire and an MA in Spanish from Middlebury College.

    Ashley McGlone serves as the director of development information systems, overseeing the development and maintenance of the advancement office's data management systems. Previously, Ashley served as director of development at the Boch Center, steward of the Wang and Shubert theatres in Boston. Ashley earned a BA in creative writing and an MBA in organizational leadership from Franklin Pierce University.

    As director of facilities since 2010, Ben McGovern is responsible for the oversight and management of all buildings, grounds, vehicles, and infrastructure at all Rivers School properties. Before coming to Rivers, he was construction supervisor at Wellesley Builders, where he was involved in the construction of the Rivers School Conservatory’s Bradley Hall facility in 2007.

    JJanet McKeeney, director of engagement, joined Rivers in September 2023. She has extensive experience in higher education, including engagement program development and volunteer recruitment and training, as well as event execution and logistics management. Janet has a B.A. from Wellesley College and spent 11 years at the Wellesley College Alumnae Association. She most recently held the position of senior director, leading a team responsible for recruiting and cultivating volunteers, creating and executing new alumnae engagement programs, and working closely with the Wellesley Development Office to support the annual fund. Janet is also a graduate of The Winsor School in Boston.

    Prior to joining Rivers, Keith McLean coached at Tilton School and Noble & Greenough School. He holds a B.A. from Harvard and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. In addition to coaching, he has had a long career as a lawyer. Keith played high school hockey at Nobles and went on to play in college. Along with leading our girls’ hockey team, Keith serves as assistant athletic director and head coach of the Middle School boys’ lacrosse team.

    Andrés Méndez-Peñate joined the Rivers Faculty in the fall of 2020. He teaches seventh- and eighth-grade Spanish. Previously, he taught middle school Spanish at the Nashoba Brooks School in Concord, MA, and upper school Spanish at Brooks School in North Andover. He began his teaching career in 2005 as a New York City Teaching Fellow. Andrés's passion for Spanish and the culture of the Spanish-speaking world has led him to travel to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Argentina, México, and Spain. He lived in Barcelona for three years, where he taught at the Benjamin Franklin International School.

    Myron Mentis has been head athletic trainer and a strength and conditioning coach at Rivers since 2001. He also acts as an advisor for eleventh- and twelfth-grade students and serves on the wellness committee. He was the recipient of the Walter Family Community Award in 2011. Myron earned a degree in graphic design and photography in his native South Africa before emigrating in 1990. He also holds a BS in athletic training from Northeastern University and is a board certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association. Prior to his time at Rivers, Myron worked as an athletic trainer at Somerville High School, Hanover High School, and HealthSouth Hospital in Braintree.

    After having three children attend Rivers and ending his career as a dentist, Jeffrey Meropol joined the Rivers faculty in 2001. He has taught anatomy and physiology, astronomy, and ethics in science and currently teaches biochemistry and chemistry. Doc (as he is known to all) has also coached girls’ varsity basketball. He earned a BS and a DMD from Tufts University.

    Diane Merrill came to Rivers in 1997 as chef manager and became the director of dining services in 2001. She oversees kitchen operation and staff for daily lunches as well as compliance and training in FLIK Independent School Dining protocols. She also manages catering and staffing for school events. Prior to her time at Rivers, Diane worked as a chef manager for Sodexho for nine years. Diane received an associate’s degree in applied culinary arts from Newbury Junior College.

    Mary joined the English department in 2008 and currently teaches eleventh- and twelfth-grade English in addition to advising students in eleventh and twelfth grades and leading the Freshman Honors English Seminar. Her previous teaching experience includes both private and public schools, along with four years teaching composition and teacher education courses at the University of Michigan, where she spent time doing graduate work. She earned a BA from Georgetown University and an MEd from Wake Forest University. She co-advises the Rivers Gender Sexuality Alliance and co-facilitates the WALLIES (the white ally affinity group on campus). Mary also has an interest in mindfulness meditation, which she incorporates into her classes, and she is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.

    Coach Meyer attended Boston University and was named the 2003 Male Athlete of the Year as a senior. While at BU, Meyer was also named a NCAA First Team All American in 2002-03, won three Beanpot Championships, and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team. After college, he played parts of seven seasons and 281 games in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes, and the Atlanta Thrashers. Upon retiring in 2012, he spent two years as an assistant coach for the Manchester Monarchs, the (AHL) affiliate for the Los Angeles Kings (NHL). In 2014, Meyer was named Head Coach/GM of the East Coast Wizards (EHL) where he guided the Wizards from a new junior franchise into a perennial favorite.

    Victoria Mizzi, Upper School dean of student life, joined the mathematics department in 2016 after teaching the IB math curriculum at the International School of Boston and, since arriving, has taught math across the Upper School curriculum, from Grade 9 Geometry with Algebra to the Grade 12 Multivariate Calculus and Linear Algebra sequence. She has also served as grade dean on the Grade 11 and 12 rotation and as a course counselor. Prior to joining Rivers, Victoria worked at the Washington International School in Washington, D.C., where she also served as department chair. Victoria received both a B.Ed. and a B.S. from Queen’s University, Ontario, and has since been a learning group fellow at Project Zero Classroom at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, as well as a learning group facilitator and mini-course leader at the Washington International School Summer Institute for Teachers in Washington, D.C.

    Travis Modic has a BA in Hispanic studies from Hamilton College and an MAT in Spanish language and culture from a joint program with James Madison University and Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. Before joining Rivers, Travis worked at Dexter Southfield School, where he taught Upper School Spanish and coached lacrosse. Travis also worked for six summers at Global Works Travel, as an in-country guide and program leader in both Ecuador and Costa Rica. At Rivers, he teaches Upper School Spanish, coaches lacrosse, and serves as an Upper School advisor.
